Getting to Hagen
By plane
The closest major airport to Hagen is Dortmund Airport (DTM). If Dortmund Airport does not have convenient flights, you can also consider nearby airports such as Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) or Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN). From these airports, you can take trains to the city of Hagen.
By car
A1, Exit 87 Hagen-Nord: Take the “Zentrum” exit (Dortmunder Straße). Follow the road until you get to the second roundabout; take the third exit onto Boeler Ring. Continue onto Hagener Straße and then Feithstraße. On the left, you will first see Villa Bechem (Building 10) and then the FernUniversität campus. Turn left onto
Universitätsstraße.
A45/A46, Hagen Intersection (Junction 11): From the junction, follow the A46 towards Hagen-Zentrum. Take the “FernUni” exit and turn right (towards Boele) onto Feithstraße. You will see the Fern-Universität campus on the right. Turn right onto Universitätsstraße.
By public transport
After arriving at Hagen main train station, you can either take a taxi or Bus 515 to Hohenlimburg Bahnhof. This will take you directly to the FernUniversität bus stop in around 19 minutes. In addition to the direct connection, you can also use the following alternatives: Bus 514 to Bathey or Bus 543 to Profilstraße Schleife; you can reach the FernUniversität via the Hoheleye stop (travel time: 15 minutes). Continue on foot in the same direction until you reach the crossing, then turn right onto Feithstraße. After around 400 meters, you will see the FernUniversität campus on your left.
